Position Overview:
The IT Project Manager 1 will play a pivotal role in the Enterprise Decision Support and Data Governance (EDGE) organization within Southern Company Gas. This position is designed to facilitate and oversee the successful execution of multiple IT projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

• Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Engage with both business and IT stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations
• Facilitate effective communication and coordination between different departments to ensure smooth project execution
• Requirements Gathering:
• Collect and document functional and non-functional requirements from business partners
• Ensure requirements are clear, complete, and feasible for implementation
• Project Planning and Execution:
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines
• Develop comprehensive project plans that outline key milestones, resources, and delivery dates
• Manage the project lifecycle from ideation to production, ensuring that all phases are executed effectively
• Progress Monitoring:
• Track and report on the progress of multiple projects simultaneously
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure projects stay on track
• Adjust project plans as necessary to accommodate changes in scope or objectives
• Platform Ownership:
• Act as the owner of the project management platforms used within the organization
• Ensure the platforms are used effectively to manage the portfolio of projects, providing training and support to team members as needed
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports, meeting minutes, and change logs
• Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, risks, and issues

Desired Qualifications:

• Educational Background:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
• Experience:
• Proven experience as an IT Project Manager or similar role, preferably within a corporate or industrial setting
• Experience in managing projects involving both business and IT stakeholders
• Familiarity with data governance and enterprise decision support systems is highly desirable
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello)
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development lifecycle, and system integration
• Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results
