Child-Care Provider Job Description

Land of the Sky UCC is seeking childcare providers to work with our young children on Sunday mornings. If interested, please submit a cover letter and resume.

Job Responsibilities:

• Hours: Sunday mornings for 1.5-3 hours between 9:45am-12:45pm. Occasionally opportunities (once a month at most) for a Game Night or Parents’ Night Out (usually on the weekends).
• Availability: Most, but not all Sunday mornings, with some flexibility on dates and shift times
• Age Group: Children aged 0-12
• Nursery/Sunday School: During the worship service (10:00-11:15AM), the Nursery is primarily for infants/toddlers. Kids aged 4-12 attend the service and then move to Sunday School classes. From 11:15-12:45, all kids are together (usually outside) while their caregivers participate in various post-service events. Being flexible about both age group and classroom placement is a must. Each week is different!
• Location: Most child care happens outside in our fenced in play-area (unless raining). Childcare during inclement weather and Sunday School classes take place in indoor classrooms.
• Safe Church Policy: Our Safe Church Policy states that “reasonable effort will be made to insure that two people, who are not married or partnered, are present with each group of children or youth.”

Expectations:

• Ability to teach brief, pre-made lessons (Bible story, discussion questions, crafts/activities) in conjunction with a volunteer adult from the congregation
• A joyful excitement about caring for young children, toddlers, and infants. We want you to love what you do!
• Full embrace of diverse families, particularly families with LGBTQIA parents, children in foster care, and children with special dietary needs
• Understanding, compassion, and sensitivity for neuro-diversity and gender-creativity
• Adherence to Safe Church policies which include willingness to work in a room that has a video monitoring system and signing the criminal background release form
• Willingness to serve as a mandated reported regarding signs of abuse/neglect, as required by NC law
• Ability to communicate in a timely way via email and texting
• Ability to transport yourself to and from the church
• Rate of pay: $22.10/hour
