Arlington Public Schools is Hiring a Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher Near Arlington, VA
This position is a 1.0 FTE located at Montessori Public School .
- To demonstrate a commitment to upholding the pedagogical principles of Maria Montessori through adherence to the Montessori curriculum.
To demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation for the materials developed by Maria Montessori and their use with children.
To follow the child in order to meet his or her needs (differentiate instruction).
To encourage independence, self-discipline, and responsibility in the classroom.
To devise lessons reflecting the pedagogical principles of Maria Montessori that address, as needed, state and county standards not covered by the Montessori curriculum.
To plan and reflect with Montessori colleagues.
To demonstrate excellent planning and record-keeping skills.
- Preferred experience teaching at the 6-9 or 6-12 levels. (New teachers also welcome but will work with a mentor/coach).
- Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
Elementary Education endorsement OR montessori certificate and passing of the Elementary Praxis
Private or provisionally licensed teachers with a MACTE-Accredited Montessori license are eligible for Virginia licensure
English Learners and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
