Description
The Orthopedic & Sports Institute (OSI) is seeking a full time (40 hours per week) certified professional Medical Coder (CCS or CPC) The successful candidate will be dedicated to provide detailed medical coding for a busy orthopedic practice.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Abstract provider documentation to assign correct ICD 10 and CPT codes for E&M, radiology, injections, MRIs and surgeries
- Keep up to date and current CPT, and individual insurance company guidelines, as well as orthopedic coding guidelines
- Examine claims for accuracy and compliance per all billing and coding guidelines
- Educate and train providers and clinical staff on guidelines and clinical documentation requirements, annually or as needed
- Routinely communicate (written and verbal) with insurance providers regarding submitted claims
- Work on a weekly basis to overturn claim denials with various types of appeals
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5 years experience orthopedic coding preferred
- medical billing experience preferred
- Knowledge of orthopedic anatomy
- eCW experience desired but not mandatory
