Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour with a 1.00 shift differential for 2nd & 3rd shift. 90, 180, and 270 day probationary periods. Accumulated $2,000 sign on bonus after successful reviews.
2nd Shift Hours 2pm – 10:30pm
3rd Shift Hours 10pm – 6:30am
I. Basic Function
The Quality Assurance Technician position is a working position responsible for the testing of finished product for acid, salt, pH, and brix. The QA Tech will need to ensure the chemistry is within specification for all lines in the facility. Test products for x-ray detection, metal detection, defects, color, and flavor. Ensure all lot coding is correct on the package and case. This is a fast-paced environment and tests must be done in a timely manner. This is to be performed employing the safest, most efficient and professional methods possible.
II. Organizational Relationships
A. Line - Responsible to the Quality Assurance Manager, working with the Director of Technical Services, Production Manager, Production Lead, and Maintenance Manager.
III. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Including but Not Limited to Demonstrated Proficiency in the Following:
A. Inspect, test or measure product for conformance to specification. Testing of Physical and Chemical properties of the product.
B. Lab equipment calibration
C. Perform internal plant audits to identify any non-conformance
D. Preform sanitation inspections of processing equipment
E. Consult with manager to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems
F. Collaborates with other supervisors/managers to coordinate activities of individual departments including production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting quality of product.
IV. Methods of Accountability
A. Through various oral and written reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
B. Through the accurate reporting of paperwork, timely completion of assigned work, and quality of work performed.
V. Standards of Performance
A. Overall accuracy of reports/paperwork.
B. Quality of work.
C. Level of efficiency attained in quality assurance functions.
D. Training and development effectiveness.
VI. Requirements
A. Ability to perform assigned duties in a highly disruptive environment.
B. Ability to efficiently work with minimum or no direct supervision.
C. Must be able to work overtime when required to do so.
D. Ability to perform assigned tasks under time pressure.
E. Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently at the same time.
F. Strong written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail and legible penmanship
G. Must be able to produce work within exacting standards and tolerances.
VII. Education, Training and Experience
A. G.E.D. or equivalent
Proficient at Word and Excel. Skill set would include basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages).
B. Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in related fields of quality assurance
VIII. Working Environment and Conditions
A. Hearing protection & hairnet/beard net required.
B. Eye protection required for task specific functions.
C. Clothing suitable to prevent entanglement in equipment.
D. Predominantly in a refrigerated environment, temperatures less than 42 degrees.
