Washtenaw County Road Commission is Hiring a Project Manager Near Ann Arbor, MI

Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Manager. As a Project Manager for WCRC you are responsible for administering the design and construction of transportation infrastructure projects, promoting safety and efficiency during the construction phase and subsequent use by the motoring public. This professional staff position has the responsibility for planning and managing projects and will include both administrative and technical oversight. The position must exercise independent professional judgment in resolving problems within project goals, objectives, schedule, and budget.

Schedule
  • Normal schedule: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Summer schedule: Option to work 4/10 or 5/8 work schedule.
  • Telecommuting, subject to WCRC's Telecommuting Policy, is an option for this position.

Essential Duties
  • Participates in the planning and administration of the design and construction of transportation infrastructure projects applying guidelines, regulations, and engineering judgement.
  • Assists in the collection, correlation, and analysis of data related to transportation infrastructure Performs field reviews and provides recommendations to overcome project challenges.
  • Establishes project schedules based on funding commitments and asset management practices, monitoring project progress and budget.
  • Generates and manages project reports, records, permits, and necessary documentation.
  • Reviews bid documents including, but not limited to, plans, specifications, and shop drawings, as well as permit application submittals.
  • Uses computer-aided design and related software to accomplish project design and assigned engineering tasks.
  • Assists in the development of infrastructure asset management priorities as relates to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), WCRC Asset Management Plan, and WCRC budget.
  • Coordinates the collection and evaluation of geotechnical information during design and construction phases.
  • Coordinates material testing as required based on project specifications, documentation requirements, and project site conditions.
  • Assists in research and coordinates necessary legal documentation for project right-of-way needs.
  • Develops special provisions, supplemental specifications, and project details as required.
  • Coordinates all necessary utility relocations including requesting utility maps, identifying conflicts, and facilitating the timely relocation in accordance with project schedules.
  • Coordinates the advertisement, letting, and evaluation of project bids.
  • Represents the WCRC at public meetings to engage local officials, motorists, and the community to effectively communicate project plans, thereby informing stakeholders and providing an opportunity for
  • Represents the WCRC at meetings with local officials to coordinate transportation infrastructure investments, as well as to establish and promote continued relationships with these governmental partners.
  • Meets with Engineering and Operations Department staff to determine pertinent information required for project plans and coordinate planned work.
  • Coordinates the assignment of tasks to engineering technicians and/or engineering interns while monitoring employee performance.
  • Promptly and thoughtfully respond to citizen inquiries and concerns.
Requirements
  • Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, construction management, land surveying, or related degree.
  • State of Michigan Professional Engineer License preferred.
Salary: $63024.00 - $103937.60 per year
