Full-time Nurse (LPN) to provide nursing care on a 1:1 basis for a student with complex medical needs, in addition to meeting other nursing responsibilities as requested.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Responsible for 1:1 care for students with complex medical needs, including support in all classes and on School buses or another mode of transportation. Additional responsibilities include the following:1. Provides emergency care in cases of injury or sudden illness. Such care will be limited to First Aid only, followed up by referral to the family physician or proper medical facility.2. Provides care of GJ tube site and trach site per MD orders.3. Monitors students for signs/symptoms of infection.4. Report concerns to RN staff5. Documents First Aid and illness care provided to students and staff.6. Completes incident reports and maintains an accurate log of health room activity.7. Identifies students with health problems.8. Maintains First Aid Supplies in an appropriate location in the school.9. Maintains “to go bag” for 1:1 student 10. Identifies health and safety hazards in the school and advises school administration.11. Demonstrates knowledge of, and the ability to administer medications appropriately, in keeping with school policy on administration of medication in school.12. Other nursing duties as assigned.
