Ideal Attributes

- Physician Charge Coding ( CPT, HCPC and ICD-10)
- Experience with Orthopedic Surgery Procedure Coding
Representative Duties
- Reviews notes from inpatient and/or outpatient encounters and codes them according to the documentation (assigns accurate CPT, HCPC and ICD-10 codes)
- Posts charges when needed for services rendered
- Audits chart documentation for quality purposes to ensure that provider coding and documentation is synchronous- provides communication of audit findings to department leadership as directed by management
- Makes judicious decisions on which codes to assign in each instance, and function to a high level of accuracy
- Introduces changes in procedure; CPT, HCPC and ICD-10 codes and educates staff on the use of new codes
- Liaising with physicians and other parties in a professional and courteous manner to clarify information
- Advises and trains physicians and staff on medical coding as requested by department leadership
- Perform accurate, efficient Hospital Physician Consultation and Emergency Room as well as Orthopedic Surgery services coding when needed.
- Be familiar with Primary Care, Infusion, Injection, Physical Therapy, Occupation Therapy, Massage Therapy, and different imaging modality, as well as physician services coding and chart documentation requirement
- Support and lead the coding team
- Active Certified Professional Coding Certificate
- Two (2) years of current coding experience (outpatient physician services)
- Two (2) years of Evaluation and Management (E&M) services coding
- One (1) - two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Passed ICD-10 proficiency exam
