SUMMARY

ONC is seeking a Communications Specialist who is entrepreneurial, effective, and energetic for a position in our Anchorage office. The chosen candidate will work directly with the VP of Communications in the following areas:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Newsletter Production – Create and produce newsletter content, including writing articles relating to community issues, for the shareholder newsletter
• Site Content Editor – Monitor, create, and update content for the corporate website including maintaining online forms using Wix.
• Graphic Design - Produce graphic design projects such as the annual report, yearly calendar and corporate Christmas Card.
• Shareholder Meetings- Responsible for all logistics of the shareholder informational meetings including securing venues, coordinating IT services, banquet ordering, set up of promotional items and presentations.
• Research - Conduct research and contribute to the development of communication strategies that clearly align with business objectives.
• Travel – Must be willing to travel to Kodiak, Ouzinkie and other areas upon request.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong writing, editing, research, communication, and time management skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and with a team, meet deadlines effectively and multitask.
• Knowledge of Adobe design suite programs such as photoshop, acrobat, InDesign, and Lightroom.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Possess a positive attitude, is reliable and works well with others.
• Expert level graphic design skills in Adobe design suite programs such as photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom.
• Database management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Power Point, Word, Excel, and MS Outlook).

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma
• College graduate, preferably with BA/BS in English, Communications, or Journalism or similar concentration; or equivalent work experience.

WORK SCHEDULE

Up to 40 hours per week. May be required to work overtime hours as needed to complete assignment or project. May require flexible work schedule. May be required to work extended workdays frequently.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy.

Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time to be 10%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office environment the majority of the time. Long hours may be needed by project demand.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time. Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage.
