Price Gregory is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Anchorage, AK

Job Summary

This position works with our Payroll Administrator to complete our weekly payroll. The Payroll Specialist serves as contact for resolving issues with employees, managers, and outside vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and process new hires, employee changes, terminations, deduction changes, etc. into the Payroll/HRIS system
  • Will coordinate with Projects Department for onboarding paperwork, timekeeping, coding and reporting
  • Maintains complete payroll documentation for paper & electronic files
  • Processes pay for the weekly payrolls
  • Prepares pay by verifying compiled payroll data including hours worked and deductions to be withheld; calculating checks or electronic transfers
  • Balances payroll by auditing information; identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
  • Records tax and direct deposit information into the Payroll system
  • Processes manual payroll checks for all lost, stale-dated, voided, and stop payment payroll checks
  • Conducts various projects as assigned by supervisor on an as needed basis

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Good analytical and reasoning abilities
  • Good knowledge of payroll basics and time collection
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, in particular MS Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to work with short deadlines
  • Ability to maintain the confidential nature of payroll data
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Payroll experience a must
  • Union payroll preferred but not required
  • Demonstrates an increasing level of responsibility and desire to learn
