Join our team as a Nurse Supervisor at Anamosa State Penitentiary!
Your duties would include, but not be limited to. Supervise and evaluate the work of subordinate staff nurses, and medical/clerical nurse unit coordinators to ensure 24 hour nursing coverage. Provide input to develop policies and procedures to improve the quality of care. Monitors accrediting, and regulatory criteria to maintain compliance, and assure compliance requirements are maintained. Integrates standards of nursing care to maintain optimal level of care is provided to incarcerated individuals. Integrates standards of nursing care to update policies and procedures. Establish and maintain guidelines for nursing staff to assure optimal care within assigned areas of medical and mental health.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsApplicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
  • All of the following (a, b, and c):
  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator’s Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing; and
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in nursing; and
  • One year of full-time professional clinical work experience in a correctional environment or in any combination of nursing specialty areas including epidemiology, geriatrics, maternal and child health, nursing education, pediatrics, public health, mental health or psychiatrics, or intellectual disability.
  • All of the following (a and b):
  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator’s Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing; and
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in nursing.
  • All of the following (a, b, and c):
  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator’s Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing; and
  • One year of full-time professional clinical work experience in a correctional environment or in any combination of nursing specialty areas including epidemiology, geriatrics, maternal and child health, nursing education, pediatrics, public health, mental health or psychiatrics, or intellectual disability; and
  • A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part b), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in nursing equals one year of full-time experience.
