    Ames CSD is seeking a Communication Specialist for the 2022-2023 school year.
    MISSION STATEMENT
    The mission of the Ames Community School District is to ensure that all learners develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and personal esteem necessary to grow in and shape a changing society.
    Summary
    Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Communication Specialist will play a key role in supporting the communications efforts for the Ames Community School District. This position will provide support in planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating content and managing the District’s communication channels.
    Work Schedule: 255-day Monday-Friday 40 hours (8:00-4:30)
    Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
    • Plans and develops written and visual content for the District’s website, publications, and social media.
    • Creates content, updates, and maintains the district’s Wordpress website.
    • Assists in the development of promotional content.
    • Manages the translations process for the District.
    • Works with building staff to streamline communications across the District.
    • Creates and maintains content, and delivers training for the District’s use of Blackboard for mass messaging.
    • Develops electronic communication for both staff and the public.
    • Assists with district events.
    • Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis.
    • Performs other duties, as assigned.
    Qualifications:
    Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Writing feature and news stories for print and digital platforms, including planning and strategizing content.
    • Manage communications and marketing projects from concept to completion.
    • Balance multiple projects with competing priorities under tight deadlines.
    Portfolio:
    Candidates will be asked to submit a portfolio showcasing content they developed. This can include written pieces and multimedia projects that may include graphic design, photography, and video components. Please utilize the material upload section to submit URLs or PDFs displaying portfolio content.
    Knowledge & Other Qualifications:
    • Adobe Creative Suite for print and digital design
    • Final Cut Pro experience preferred but not required
    • Follow established branding guidelines
    • Photography
    • Create short videos for social media,
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently
    Compensation: $22.93/hr
