The Classic At Hillcrest Green is Hiring a Kitchen Supervisor Near Altoona, WI

JOB SUMMARY:

The Classic at Hillcrest Greens has 135 Apartments serving independent living, assisted living and memory care residents. This position is responsible for helping to maintain the overall production and efficiency of the culinary department in accordance to The Classic at Hillcrest Greens policies and procedures. This position has potential to full time hours per week. The culinary department consists of two shifts: 6am-2pm and 11:30am-7:30pm. The Kitchen Supervisor will be will not be scheduled to work weekends but if there is a sick call, they would cover the weekend shift.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise culinary team: cooks and dining assistants
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and stay within FTE budget
  • Ensure new staff is trained in job duties, safety and sanitation techniques
  • Conduct corrective actions for culinary staff
  • No scheduled weekends unless an employee calls-in with no coverage found
  • Prepare, cook and serve meals to residents, families, guests and employees
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficiently organized kitchen. Product will be labeled, dated and rotated

ensuring an adequate, fresh inventory of food and supplies

  • Monitor inventory of supplies, labels, dates and rotates as needed per state and federal guidelines
  • Accurately follow directions and convert recipes for various size groups. Follow through on best product usage, portion control, use of leftovers and follow production guides
  • Properly operate and maintain all equipment in the food preparation area
  • Monitor equipment condition including temperature and chemicals in dishwasher, report any problems to Culinary Director
  • Partners with department leaders to maintain awareness of facility special events, and activities to ensure adequate product and labor are available. Review production sheets and recipes and check menu ensuring food items are available
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Highest Level of Education Required: High School Diploma or GED

2. Work Experience Required: 0-3 years of related experience

3. Other specific work experience that is preferred for the position:

a. ServeSafe Certified

b. Knowledge of nutrition, recipes and special dietary needs

c. Ability to perform basic math calculations, follow written and verbal instructions and work with accuracy

d. Previous food service experience of one to three years in a health care facility is desirable

e. Problem solving, and workflow awareness skills required

4. Able to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, Resident’s Bill of Rights, OSHA, Universal Precaution and SDS.

5. Able to work well both individually and as part of a team through respect, collaboration and dedication.

6. Able to prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently.

7. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations including able to work irregular hours, attend meetings and special events.
