Technical Support Specialist

Overview:

The position will assist with all aspects of the IT department at Bishop Guilfoyle Academy to support students and teachers at all 4 campus locations. The position will be based at the Pleasant Valley and Eldorado locations and will be part of a team that supports systems that cover students, faculty, and staff for the entire Pre-K through 12th grade system.

This position provides daily onsite repair services, technical support, and user education to faculty, staff, and students. The position will assist with all aspects of the IT department including but not limited to Mobile Device Management (MDM), iPads, computer maintenance, projectors, smartboards, and other peripheral equipment. This is a full-time and salaried position (overtime exempt). The position is typically a 40-hour work week with the understanding that some weekend and evening hours may be necessary for infrastructure maintenance, other projects, and to meet deadlines. This position reports to the IT Manager and works collaboratively with others for team projects.

Position Responsibilities:

· Provide Helpdesk services to faculty, staff, and students

o Triage incoming support requests via phone, email, and RMM tools and provide Tier 1 troubleshooting

o Travel between school sites as necessary

o Utilize ticketing system for documentation of support issues

· Patch systems at regular intervals and provide preventative maintenance as needed

· Involvement and assistance with software/services utilized by BG including but not limited to: PowerSchool, Microsoft 365, Renaissance, Clever, ParentSquare, Google Workspace, Apple School Manager, Mosyle School, and Canvas

· Remain current on knowledge of software and hardware specific to the environment

· Attend IT Department meetings as needed

· All other duties as assigned

Experience:

· Experience installing and configuring Windows client operating systems

· Experience with Microsoft Office Applications including Office 365

· Experience with MDM software and iPads preferred

· Experience with education-based software such as Canvas preferred

Knowledge:

· Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Windows client operating systems

· Basic understanding of networking principles (physical & wireless)

· Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows server operating systems

· Basic understanding of Mac OS a plus

Abilities:

· Takes direction from IT Manager on tasks

· Takes ownership of tasks and follows through to ensure complete resolution

· Personal interest in, and responsibility for, quality of work they perform or associate with

· The capabilities and initiative to research and learn new software and services as deemed necessary by the changing landscape of educational technology

· Effective verbal and written communication skills

· Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently

Education:

· Two-year degree in a related, technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience

· CompTIA A Certification (preferred)

Other requirements:

· Driver’s license and reliable vehicle

· Must pass criminal background checks and clearances as required for working with minors

· This position requires long periods of sitting or standing at times. Must be mobile throughout the school and be comfortable accessing IT equipment in ceilings and small spaces. Must be able visit other campuses. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.79 - $20.19 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
