Job Title: Meat Cutter

Job Summary: As a Meat Cutter, you will play a vital role in our meat department by preparing and cutting a variety of meats to meet customer specifications. Your responsibilities will include operating meat processing equipment, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and providing excellent customer service. Join us in ensuring our customers have access to the finest cuts of meat and enjoy a positive shopping experience.

Examples of Duties:

  • Prepare and cut meats according to customer specifications, including portioning, trimming, and slicing.
  • Operate meat processing equipment such as slicers, grinders, and saws, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the meat department, including cleaning equipment, surfaces, and storage areas.
  • Assist customers in selecting meats, providing recommendations and answering questions about cuts, preparation methods, and cooking tips.
  • Receive, inspect, and store meat deliveries, ensuring quality and freshness.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking meats as needed.
  • Follow food safety guidelines and regulations to ensure the safe handling and storage of meats.
  • Collaborate with department managers and team members to achieve department goals and objectives.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of meat cutting techniques, including portioning, trimming, and slicing.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
  • Familiarity with different cuts of meat and their uses.

Skills:

  • Butchery Skills: Proficiency in cutting and preparing various cuts of meat.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure accuracy in portioning and trimming meats.
  • Communication: Clear and effective communication skills for interacting with customers and coworkers.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
