The Early Learning Institute (teli) is a nonprofit provider of Early Intervention Services with over 60 years of experience helping children with developmental delays reach their true potential. teli provides therapeutic Early Intervention for children birth to age three. Teli is an affiliate of The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh.
Job Title: Physical Therapist
Location: Southern part of Allegheny County
Salary Range: starting at $46.89/hour
Schedule: Modified, part-time, self determined
About the Team
For more than 60 years, teli has provided specialized early intervention programs and individualized early intervention services for children with developmental delays directly in the home. Services include physical, occupational, speech, vision, and hearing therapies, along with developmental instruction and social work for children from birth to age three years old.
About the Position
As a Physical Therapist you will provide early intervention services utilizing the Home Based Coaching Model as endorsed by the State and mandated by Allegheny County/ Washington County to meet the IFSP goals for Early Intervention. Must be comfortable providing Early Intervention Assessments in a home environment with the parents and children while maintaining confidentiality. Travel required. Early Intervention provides flexibility in work schedules. Job responsibilities include:
  • Provide therapy in accordance with Physical Therapy best practice guidelines for children and youth under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and consistent with all State regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Partner with parents and caregivers to provide services utilizing the Home-Based Coaching Model as endorsed by the State and mandated by Allegheny Count to meet the IFSP goals for Early Intervention. Infants and toddlers who require the use of specialized adaptive devices and equipment may be excluded.
  • Thoroughly complete all necessary documentation for caseload management, including but not limited to: progress notes, billing sheets, data collection, travel, and attendance records. All required documentation must be completed on time.
  • Facilitates appropriate interactions with families, peers and other agency professionals in order to provide a cohesive therapeutic plan for children.
  • Responsible for scheduling appointments to evaluate Early Intervention clients provide to establish the IFSP guidelines and maximize productivity.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current practices within the profession such as assessment tools and therapy approaches, to provide appropriate intervention strategies for children and families.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree with a PA license, Master's Degree with PA license or DPT with a PA license.
  • One year of experience with a pediatric population.
  • Valid PA driver's license and a reliable transportation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, organization, verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must be able to move children and equipment weighing 10-50 pounds.
  • Must be able to transition from sitting to standing, kneeling and squatting.
  • Must be able to squat and kneel. Must be able to walk up and down stairs, occasionally carrying equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a home environment under a variety of conditions.
  • Pediatric CPR/First Aid required.
  • Act 33/34 Clearances; FBI Clearance
