Work Location: Aiken, SC
Civil/Structural Engineer-Job DutiesThe Civil/Structural Engineer will provide design and construction oversight of structural engineering tasks on assigned engineering teams. A Civil/Structural Engineer performs engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of engineering or project tasks.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of structural systems for both static and dynamic loads using manual computation and computer programs.
- Use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
- Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final design engineering contract documents (Plans, Specifications & Estimates) (PS&E) for new and existing structures.
- Design concrete structures using steel, aluminum, stainless steel, timber, and composite structures.
- Develop foundation and anchorage designs.
- Perform analysis for impact, overpressure, and other accident conditions.
- Prepare documents based upon CSI specifications.
- Review vendor documents.
- Prepare technical reports, quantities and cost estimates.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities.
- Proficient with STAAD (Structural Analysis and Design software).
- Working knowledge of the National Codes and Standards (IBC, AISC, ASD, LRFD, ACI, AWS, NFPA, and OSHA).
- Held a DOE clearance in the past two (2) years.
- Professional Engineer (PE) in either Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Proficient in 2D MicroStation computer-aided drafting and design (CADD).
- Must Be A US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
