Production Supervisor

Position Overview:

Nippon Light Metal Georgia, Inc. (NLM) is seeking a Production Supervisor on night shift. While we are in the start-up phase of the company, this position offers an opportunity for candidates to be a key team member for the foundation of our company! Now is a great time to join our team!

NLM is a comprehensive manufacturer of aluminum products with diverse offerings ranging from aluminum raw material to fabricated products. Our goal is to achieve further growth and business expansion as a corporate group that continues to create new value for its customers.

The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising manufacturing activities while developing and maintaining a motivated, efficient, quality oriented work force. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee production operations and all things related to safety, quality, and company policy are being followed on floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with outgoing supervisors about ongoing issues that need to be addressed, work with other department supervisors, shift associates and other team members to resolve them.
  • Coordinate any line changes that may fall during shift hours (Setup, Startup, Walk down & Checkoffs according to procedures).
  • Perform special instructions left by Production and Plant Manager to be carried out on the shift as needed. This also includes communicating any information concerning Supervisory or shift employees.? Check email daily and periodically throughout the shift.
  • Meet with employees during daily pre-shift to cover safety, quality, and other information concerning Production Floor items.
  • Ensure all employee sign off sheets are completed and turned in to Production Manager
  • Ensure all training is completed following NLM training procedures.? Evaluate training with trainers and trainees and document on training check sheets.
  • Attempt to cover open positions as a result from vacations, absences, or being short staffed on assigned shift through use of call-ins or operators willing to cover from other positions.
  • Complete Paylocity timekeeping and address exceptions daily if requested by Production Manager
  • Ensure the use of first quality Parts by collaborating with Quality Department and Operators
  • If nonconforming Parts are found, handle according to procedure.? Have necessary personnel make any repairs or changes to prevent further part defects.
  • Prepare to work any additional hours on other shifts as needed to complete special assignments as required by Production Manager
  • Collect all forms from Operators daily signing off confirming information has been documented correctly. 
  • Update each Production cell’s Daily Production Report Spreadsheet as requested by Production Manager. 
  • Understand the conditions on the plant floor at all times and takes necessary actions to achieve production targets.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by monitoring machines, equipment, operational performance and utilization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, use hands to manipulate, handle and feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is frequently required to talk, stand, walk, and use hands. The employee must be able to speak and hear.
  • The Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to auto focus.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education / Work Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering is preferred, alternatively a high school diploma with minimum of 5 years applicable experience.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience as supervisor or manager in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have manufacturing experience relating to metal fabrication.
  • Experience in forging is strongly preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and IATF requirements is strongly preferred
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods, and techniques.
  • Experience with a Japanese or international work environment preferred

  • Must be self-motivated, driven, and results-oriented, with a high level of initiative.
  • Must have good computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work and interact with all departments in the organization.
  • Mechanical aptitude as well as problem solving skills highly desired.
