The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City’s children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services.

In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families through community-based programming and preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home.

Each year, the agency’s Division of Child Protection responds to more than 50, reports of suspected child abuse or neglect.

In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families.

ACS is also a key part of NYC’s early childhood and education continuum, providing childcare assistance to thousands of child welfare involved and low-income children so they can access safe, affordable, quality care.

The Institute for Leadership Development (ILD) plays a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of child welfare and youth justice leaders.

ILD is rooted in a leadership competency framework developed by the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute (NCWWI) that defines the standards of performance excellence to guide child welfare and youth justice leaders as they advance effective practice.

ILD invites leaders to invest in their careers and realize their leadership potential. It is a partnership between ACS and the City University of New York’s Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work.

The Evaluation Coordinator position is essential for the continued success and growth of ILD. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Institute for Leadership Development (ILD) Evaluation Coordinator will support ongoing research, evaluation and assessment of ILD programs;

Leading and Exploring through Accountability and Development (LEAD), Learning, Evolving and Advancing Professionally (LEAP) and Executive Coaching.

Participants of these programs include staff from the Division of Child Protection (DCP) and provider agency staff. This position will work closely with ILD Leadership to support the growth, expansion and implementation of all ILD program offerings.

Responsibilities of this Position :

  • Support the ILD evaluation process, which includes analysis of post-training and transfer of learning data, making recommendations to improve training and coaching sessions, and establishing and tracking programmatic benchmarks.
  • Support ILD leadership in the planning and implementation of all program offerings and activities from work plan development through complete implementation of deliverables.
  • Collate and develop statistical and narrative status reports.
  • Support the Executive Director and Director of Strategic Operations in the coordination of the quality assurance and evaluation plan.
  • Attend meetings and learning events as required and necessary to fulfill the needs of ILD and to support the timeliness of all deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

3. Education and / or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

The preferred candidate should possess the ability to work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently, both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail as well as proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel, LMS and Database systems knowledge.

Candidate should be able to appropriately interact with various levels of ACS leadership and offer feedback on ways to further the mission of the Workforce Institute.

A commitment to a collegial workplace is required.
