IT Department Manager Job Description
The IT Manager is responsible for the overall management of the company's information technology (IT) systems and infrastructure. This position will start with a small team of direct reports and be challenged to develop a more comprehensive and effective group able to align technologies with business strategy to improve operations. This position secures operations of hardware, software, networks, and data management systems and involves strategic planning, implementation, maintenance, and support of technology initiatives.
IT Department Manager Responsibilities:
Develop and manage a diverse team and strategy of IT professionals across different locations and time zones
Ensure availability, security, and reliability of IT systems
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure
Identify emerging technologies and gain continual knowledge in international data protection and privacy laws
Support the development and ensure proper documentation, testing, disaster recovery, and deployment of solutions
Establish and enforce security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and systems
Evaluate external vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships for IT services
Collaborate with corporate headquarters in Japan and sister companies abroad
IT Department Manager Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field
Experience in IT management with team leadership and strategic planning
Study of IT infrastructure, networking, security, and systems administration
Proficiency in software and application management, including deployment and support
Familiarity with data management, backup, and disaster recovery practices
Understanding of IT governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks
