Solutions Behavioral Healthcare Professionals is Hiring a Crisis Responder Near Fargo, ND

Summary/Objective:

This position is part time, and considered adjunct to a staff’s primary position and job duties. As a member of the Mobile Crisis team, this position provides on-site crisis response to emergency calls. This is a part time, after hours, on-call position, which is a part of an assigned schedule/rotation. The position carries an on-call phone and laptop computer. On-call staff are assigned in pairs, and the team is deployed together. This position responds to after-hours calls as notified by First Link.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must a bachelor’s degree in a human service field. Credentialing as a Behavior Modification Specialist is preferred
  • Must have good interpersonal and crisis management skills
  • Must have good judgement with respect to managing crises, prioritizing safety
  • Must have the flexibility to readily respond after hours, e.g., awaken in the night
  • Must have a current driver’s license, up to date car insurance and a safe driving record
  • Must pass a comprehensive Criminal Background check
  • Successful completion of orientation, including 1) Parameters of the Mobile Crisis program, 2) On-Call Procedures; 3) Safety Care/Crisis De-Escalation; 4) Suicide Assessment; 5) Crisis intervention; 6) Motivational interviewing; 7) Documentation Requirements and Timelines; and 8) Referral and Linkage
  • General computer skills are required, with the expectation that the On-Call staff be able to navigate the electronic health record (EMR), the human resource information system, (HRIS), and internal communication/email following orientation. Successful completion of orientation includes demonstrating the required knowledge and skills to use these systems.

Essential Functions:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Readily respond to after-hours crisis calls initiated by First Link. This response is in-person, and occurs along with the assigned team mate from the Mobile Crisis team.
  • Provide information about the scope of Mobile Crisis services
  • Gather intake information and authorization of releases of information as able
  • Assess for safety in the client’s site, e.g., weapons, animals; set boundaries with client as appropriate such that staff safety is ensured
  • Develop a crisis intervention plan with the client or parent
  • Provide crisis intervention / de-escalation services
  • Review crisis plan and make appropriate referrals
  • Ensure safety of others in the provision of services, accessing additional resources as needed
  • Contact clinical supervisor as needed for consultation and direction

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete documentation prior to leaving the on-call shift.
  • Attend Mobile Crisis team meetings as assigned (scheduled twice monthly)
  • Attend training and supervision meetings as scheduled.
  • Complete time and expense sheets bi-weekly via Workforce Ready
  • Contribute the development of agency policies and procedures as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This is an on-call position, which carries a phone, and requires immediate availability during the assigned shift. Crisis response may be accessed at any time, day or night, during non-business hours. This position works with a team mate, and does not go out on calls alone. The nature of calls is highly variable and require environmental assessment. This position will require the physical ability to awaken if sleeping, readily respond, drive to the site of the emergency, enter a client’s home, assess the environment, assess the client’s status, and provide crisis intervention services. The Mobile Crisis team operates year-round, including during inclement weather. There are many uncertainties here, and the individual in this position must have personal flexibility and judgment to navigate this. This position also requires a small portion of time in documenting on the computer, requiring the physical ability to utilize computer technology.

Under normal circumstances the employee will need to have to physical capacity to continuously use his/her hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation. The employee may be required to do the following:

  • Life and carry 25 – 100 lbs.

  • Bend
  • Twist upper and lower back
  • Climb a ladder

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position is on-call, after business hours, including evenings and weekends, as well as holidays. This is a part time position which is an adjunct to a staff’s primary position/job duties. The on-call schedule is prepared by the supervisor. It is expected that on-call duties will not replace or interfere with the staff’s primary job.

Travel: This position requires travel to the crisis location.
