Salary: $54,000 - $70,000
Position Summary: The Content and Social Media role supports the Treasurer's Office by planning, creating, and coordinating communications to raise awareness for the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office programs through engaging content and social media. This position oversees the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy. The Content and Social Media Manager is also directly responsible for developing, creating, and activating short- and long-term social media strategies, including content development, execution, social experiences (both online and offline), measurement, reporting, and optimization. All social media campaign ideas are aligned to deliver programmatic goals that are integrated and aligned with ISTO messaging.
Duties and Responsibilities:Content Strategy and Execution:
  • Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive content marketing strategy to engage constituent engagement.
  • Create personalized Journey content for different unique constituent groups
  • Work with marketing agencies to understand our audience and ensure that ISTO's content aligns and resonates with target audiences.
  • Coordinate external communication with the relevant teams to ensure alignment between newsletters, segmented emails, social media, and creative content
  • Support departments with Search Engine Optimization to align content development and placement for optimum SEO ranking and authority of ISTO programs.
  • Collaborate with program managers to develop creative content for program launch campaigns
  • Use tools like Sprout, Salesforce, and other constituent relationship management tools to engage our audience with personalized and optimized campaigns
  • Update website content using a content management system
  • Manage the social media calendar
  • Collaborate with internal, and external teams, and vendors to support digital marketing initiatives
  • Stay updated with all industry trends and competitors to ensure our content strategy is innovative and superior
  • Use data daily to inform content strategies and share insights with the organization
  • Serve as a resource for other team members.
Organic Social Strategy and Execution:
  • Develop and create short and long-term social media strategies, including content development, execution, social experiences (online and offline), measurement, and reporting
  • Align social media campaigns with business objectives and brand messaging
  • Manage organic social strategy and social community management across blogs, web content, and various social platforms such as Meta (Facebook), LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram
  • Oversee and respond to social media comments promptly and use feedback to inform internal stakeholders of constituent interests
  • Grow and engage social media audiences across multiple channels
  • Monitor and report on social media channels to optimize content strategies
  • Provide monthly content reporting and recommendations for improvement
  • Work internally and externally with creative resources to acquire deliverables needed for social media posts
  • Provide real-time social media coverage if necessary. Collaborate with production and creatives to create a shot list and film social content on-site
  • Stay updated with the social media landscape and technologies to identify new opportunities for the organization
  • Have a passion and commitment for ISTO programs and how social media can serve as an effective channel for programmatic awareness and constituent engagement.
Specific Skills:
  • Strong writing skills are essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is necessary
  • Familiarity with Social Media platforms such as Sprout, Sprinklr, or Hootsuite is expected
  • Working knowledge of website and marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc.) is preferred
  • Experience utilizing a customer relationship management tool to execute personalized and optimized nurturing campaigns that engage the consumer with meaningful content designed to lead to conversion is preferred
  • Experience with Meta Business Manager is an advantage
  • Detail-oriented and possessing excellent project management skills is crucial
  • Innate curiosity is valued
  • Willingness to try new tactics and the ability to seek help when necessary is important
  • Motivated by continuing education (seminars, classes, online learning, podcasts, etc.)
  • Embrace the role of a teacher to educate staff
Requirements/Qualifications: Requires proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, social media content management platforms, strong communication, project management, & analytical skills, and Microsoft Office Products including SharePoint (or commensurate platform for sharing/organizing work product). Photography experience preferred.
Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in New Media, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or English being preferred; three (3) or more years of social media experience.; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to carry out the duties of the position.
