Akira Technologies, Inc. is Hiring an AWS Cloud Developer Near Washington, DC

Akira Technologies is seeking a mid-level AWS Cloud Developer to support the US Navy's Digital Transformation Office.

The Navy Shipyard Digital Pilots team is focused on bringing digital capabilities to the Navy’s public shipyards to improve shipyard safety, employee productivity, and increase the throughput of ships through the yard. Our team is tasked with developing an application that will act as a centralized user portal for all digital functionality utilized by shipyard employees. Our team will be leveraging an AWS Cloud hosting environment for initial development of the digital hub capability. Our team is looking for a technical developer/engineer that has, or can quickly learn, the following skills/capabilities, to help stand up our Cloud environment, implement our application, and drive best practices for solution architecture, security, deployment, scalability, and ongoing operations.

Role requires an occasional onsite presence at the Pentagon, and thus candidates local to DC Metro Area are ideal.

Secret clearance or higher is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write, test, and deploy scalable and reliable applications on AWS, using languages like Python, Java, Node.js, etc.
  • Develop serverless applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and other serverless services.
  • Design and implement microservices architectures using AWS services such as ECS, EKS, and Fargate.
  • Create and manage databases using AWS RDS, DynamoDB, and other data storage solutions.
  • Use tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK to define and deploy infrastructure.
  • Automate the deployment and scaling of cloud resources.
  • Set up and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
  • Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) for source code management.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science).
  • Maintains a CompTIA Security and Associate level AWS Cloud certification.
  • Ability to develop with AWS Cloud native services to support the deployment of applications. A potential list of services that may be utilized include, but are not limited to:
    • AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon S3, AWS Glue, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS IAM, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon RDSAmazon DynamoDB
  • Experience developing in Angular framework or another front-end framework such as ReactJS.
  • Experience with version control and code reviews in Git or SVN
  • Experience writing unit test for typescript or other languages.
  • Experience developing and interacting with databases and SQL
  • Familiarity with deployment strategies, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Knowledge of AWS security best practices, including IAM roles, encryption, and securing data in transit.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS serverless services, including lambda, S3, API Gateway and more
  • Ability to automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in documenting architectures, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Ability to manage tasks effectively, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in an Agile or Scrum environment.
  • Scripting skills, preferably in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting.
  • DoD Secret level or higher security clearance.
