Alternatives Counseling, Inc. is Hiring a Mental Health Professional Near Alton, IL

Alternatives Counseling is growing with the community, and we are in need of a mental health professional (MHP) to help serve our forensic populations. This part-time position requires a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related field. We are looking for a qualified individual to fulfill our MHP role to provide clinical support completing intakes and IMCANS assessments and assisting Master's-level therapists in group therapy. Applicants must be able to work at both our Glen Carbon and Alton locations.

Schedule:

Tuesday 5:30pm-8:00pm in Alton

Wednesday 5:30pm-8pm in Glen Carbon

Thursday 5:30pm-8pm in Alton

Saturday 7:30am-12pm in Glen Carbon

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Assist therapists in group therapy with court-mandated clients
  • Complete clinical group notes through co-facilitation of SOTP (Sexual Offender Treatment Program) and PAIP groups (Partner Abuse Intervention Program – Perpetrators of Intimate Partner Violence)
  • Conduct intakes and risk screenings with new clients
  • Prepare and transfer clinical documentation into electronic records systems
  • Liaison with court and probation
  • Participate in clinical team meetings/ staff training
  • Maintain statistical database

The ideal candidate possesses the following skills:

  • An ability to work compassionately with clients regardless of their personal history
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • An understanding of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Mature judgment and reliability
