Somerset Systems is Hiring an IT Specialist Near Arlington, VA

We are looking for a skilled, motivated IT Specialist with for a full-time position based in Rosslyn, VA. We offer a competitive salary paid time off, and 2 days of remote work per week.

We are looking for someone with excellent verbal and written communication skills and great customer service skills. Someone highly dependable that has the ability to work within various levels of an organization; from front-line staff to senior level executives.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Assist staff with technical issues and offer courteous, knowledgeable support.
  • Resolve technical problems and escalate tickets as needed.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot technical infrastructure, including desktop hardware and software.
  • Deploy software, operating systems, and updates to computers and servers.
  • Manage backup and restore services for data recovery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safeguard company data through security administration and backups.
  • Respond to help desk tickets, calls, and emails for technical support.
  • Manage user systems, applications, and office appliances.
  • Serve as the IT Liaison to external partners and vendors.
  • Establish and monitor policies for information system usage.
  • Manage infrastructure assets and evaluate/implement new systems.
  • Develop and maintain desktop support procedures and end-user documentation.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and operational activities for IT systems and processes

Knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 3 years’ experience administering a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft virtualized environment.
  • Proficient in Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure / Intune
  • TCP/IP Protocols, and Group Policies.
  • Ability to lift and carry computers, monitors, servers, and printers.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/Wireless hardware and administration.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Highly responsible, dependable, and collaborative.
