Job Summary:The Project Designer Level I works closely withdesign team and other internal teams as directed to ensure the highest client satisfaction with our projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work as part of design team and takes direction from senior team members.

  • Participate in various design projects from concept to completion as directed.
  • Listen to feedback and hone skills (CAD, CET, Hedberg and other related technologies).
  • Grow and become proficient with industry standards and Steelcase, Steelcase Partners and additional vendors promoted by dealership.
  • Assist in client interfacing to gather scope, site visits, inventory, field measurements, etc.
  • Confers with senior team members to determine the factors affecting assigned projects, such as budget, purpose, function, design intent, and client’s desired results.
  • Learn to apply codes, client guidelines and vendor requirements in balance to achieve client’s design intent.
  • Provide project design drawings & specifications to project team and clients as assigned by design team lead.
  • Modifies CET drawing(s) and/or provides alternative solutions based on feedback received from senior team lead. Updates specifications/quotes as needed.
  • Assisting in the organization and supply of design library.
  • Manage personal workflow, schedule, deadlines and task priorities with multiple project types and simultaneously timelines.

(These duties do not preclude performance of other jobs that may be assigned.)

Personal and organizational skills:

Utilize Virtual Management System (VMS) to set priorities and manage personal workflow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate completion of tasks.

  • Maintain professional and effective relationship with associates, leadership team, clients, and vendors.
  • Interact with others effectively by utilizing good communication skills, cooperating purposefully and providing information to achieve the desired business goals.

Education and Experience:

  • BA in Interior Design and a minimum of one (1) year experience in design or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD or similar CAD applications.
  • Effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Effective time management, detail oriented and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Creative problem solver with the ability to work with tight deadlines and ambiguity.

Note: This is a paid position. Internship positions must also be compensated according to labor laws.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
