Job Purpose:

The Beverage and Events Manager at Marquette Mountain Resort is responsible for the day to day operations of the Tbar and the direct solicitation and booking of private events for all seasons. These events are including but not limited to; weddings, family reunions, sports teams, holiday parties, birthdays, graduation parties and other catering events. They may also be involved in the planning and coordination of public events including exhibits, festivals, concerts, and mountain events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Honor Commitments:

  • Develop, implement, and work to improve all aspects of events and Front of House procedures.

  • Managing and overseeing administrative aspects of day-to-day operations of the Tbar, including maintaining current liquor licenses, identifying and contacting potential suppliers, tracking and maintaining inventory, managing budgets, and setting benchmark goals for the business.

  • Oversee indoor and outdoor beverage operations during all four seasons.

  • Work shifts required to meet the needs of the bar, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Maintain proper distribution and reporting of tips.

  • Ensuring that industry-specific and company quality and safety guidelines are followed by all staff.

  • Creating Positive Experiences:

Creating Positive Experiences:

  • Supervising, hiring, and training staff to provide excellent service to guests.

  • Creating effective schedules to ensure that the bar is well-staffed during peak hours.

  • Diffusing tense situations with guests or staff members, ejecting unruly persons if needed.

  • Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for guests and staff.

  • Work closely with the Assistant General Manager and the General Manager to plan and coordinate private banquets and events held at Marquette Mountain.

  • Soliciting and booking new and repeat business to maximize venue and catering revenue to meet and exceed goals.

  • Conducting site visits/meetings for prospective clients.

  • Timely follow-up of all leads generated via the MMR Wedding Request Form and any other leads received.

Foster Lifelong Learning:

  • Training staff on industry-specific and company quality and safety guidelines.

  • Partnering with kitchen management to ensure all event information transfer is communicated accurately within all departments.

  • Identify and attend industry-appropriate events to connect with sales opportunities (e.g., wedding expos, ski shows).

Exhibit Pioneering Spirit:

  • Providing recommendations to management around pricing strategies to capture accounts while maximizing revenue.

  • Work closely with management to ensure all communication materials, MMR Wedding, and Events sections of the website, as well as other social media sites, are up to date in reflecting the most current offerings from MMR events.

  • POS oversight and product setup for F&B.

  • Maintain a monthly contact log of inquiries/follow-ups.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Adapt to the evolving needs of the organization and undertake additional responsibilities as required, reflecting our commitment to flexibility and responsiveness in meeting business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years bartending experience with fast pace and high volume.

  • Minimum of 2 year associate degree in Hospitality Management and/or relevant experience.

  • At least 2 years experience in a Front of House role.

  • TIPS/TAM/ServSafe Alcohol certified

  • Previous outside sales experience preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Supervisory experience (preferred).

  • Legally able to serve alcohol.

  • POS system experience.

  • Required software knowledge to include Google Sheets, Docs, Drive, and Gmail.

  • Effective business writing/verbal skills, including clear and concise communication skills.

  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, stressful environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

Physical & Other Requirements: 

  • Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced, stressful environment during the length of a shift.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and carry items weighing up to but not limited to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to but not limited to 75 pounds. 

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Evenings, weekends and holidays are a regular part of the schedule.

  • Must have excellent attendance and conduct record for consideration.
