Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Weekend Addiction Counselor/Group Facilitator to join our team. As an Addiction Counselor/Group Facilitator, you will provide support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use and related co-occurring disorders. Your role will primarily involve facilitating groups, conducting clinical interventions, and assisting with intakes over the weekend to help clients on their path to recovery.

Duties:

• Facilitate psychoeducational and process group sessions to address needs, promote peer support, and encourage healthy coping strategies
• Review and follow individualized treatment plans to develop appropriate group materials and approaches
• Provide crisis intervention sessions when needed to address underlying issues contributing to addiction
• Utilize evidence-based behavioral techniques to help clients modify destructive behaviors
• Work with clients in developing relapse-recovery management strategies and coping mechanisms
• Assist with the intake process for newly admitted clients
• May assist with other core counseling functions as needed
• Collaborate with staff across all departments to ensure holistic care for clients
• Document all client-related activities and observations in the electronic clinical record
• Stay up to date with current research and best practices in addiction counseling

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in addiction counseling, psychology, social work, or related field
• Valid certification or licensure in Virginia as a CSAC, LSATP, LPC, or LCSW (CSAC Supervisees, Counselors in Residence, and Social Work Supervisees with appropriate experience will be considered.)
• Peer Recovery Specialists (RPRS/CPRS) and QMHPs will also be considered
• At least 12 months working in the addiction/substance use disorder treatment and recovery field
• Familiarity with 12-Step Recovery and other mutual help programs
• Proficiency in medical and behavioral health terminology related to addiction treatment
• Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and ability to handle high-stress situations
• Experience in providing care for individuals with co-occurring disorders (e.g., PTSD, ADHD, depression, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse populations
• Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach towards individuals struggling with substance use and related co-occurring disorders
• Knowledge of professional ethics and federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations that apply to the addiction treatment field, including client confidentiality and rights, HIPAA, 42 CFR, etc.
• Ability to quickly adapt to and support challenges and changes at the facility
• Candidates in recovery from substance use disorders are encouraged to apply but must have a minimum of 2 years of continuous sobriety immediately prior to hire
