The Ohio Democratic Party is Hiring an Ohio Coordinated Campaign Toledo Community Organizer Near Highland, OH

Summary: In 2023, Ohio became the nation’s foremost battleground for protecting reproductive rights - winning a ballot initiative fight that gave hope to Democrats across the country. In 2024, Ohio will be the center of the battle for control of the U.S. Senate. Ohio must re-elect Senator Sherrod Brown, a champion for workers and the deciding vote on critical legislation. This year offers Democrats the chance to take control of the Ohio Supreme Court, make gains in the state legislature, and defend three battleground congressional seats.

Community Organizers will be the face of the campaign for Sherrod Brown and Ohio Democrats in key communities across the state. Folks in this role will engage with voters at a grassroots level through door-knocking, event organizing, and friend-to-friend and relational organizing. Community Organizers will spend significant time organizing in traditionally under-represented communities to increase voter participation and help bring new volunteers into the campaign’s field offices and volunteer pipeline. Community Organizers will have regular, weekly goals for volunteer engagement and voter contact in their turfs, and will be a key part of our campaign team. This position is full time, in-person, based in specific areas throughout the state of Ohio, and will report to an assigned Regional Organizing Director.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

● Knock doors, attend events, and make calls to engage voters in a particular community of Ohio

● Recruit volunteers for the campaign by attending and hosting events, making recruitment calls, and working with local community leaders

● Develop weekly goal plans, and work with Field Organizers in your given turf to increase volunteer engagement and identify local volunteer leaders

● Other responsibilities as assigned by the Organizing Director, Deputy Organizing Director, or Regional Organizing Director. Travel will be required within the assigned region to meet with volunteers and voters and/or transfer supplies, and Organizers will receive a monthly travel stipend to help cover these costs.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

● Experience with grassroots organizing or volunteering in a particular community of Ohio

● Experience working on teams of people to accomplish a common goal - folks from service backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply!

● Willing and able to work in person in the field office and in the community you are assigned

● Must have access to a cell phone, laptop, and reliable transportation

● Must be able to work in-person in the assigned region in Ohio

● Commitment to electing Democrats up and down the ticket in Ohio
