Southern Oregon Neurosurgery, PC is Hiring a Medical Assistant Supervisor/Lead Position Near Medford, OR

High-pace Neurosurgery practice is looking for a medical assistant to join our team. The position include clinic and surgery scheduling duties. Our clinic is open Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm, and Friday, 8am-4pm.

General Statement of Duties: Responsible for all duties of a Medical Assistant and directs, supervises, and coordinates the operations of the Medical Assistant department as assigned by the Practice Chief Operating Officer.

Supervision: Reports to the Practice Chief Executive Officer

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a clinic environment. Work involves frequent contact with patients and other clinical staff. Work may involve dealing with distressed patients and staff members. Work may involve irregular work hours. Work includes exposure to bodily fluids and hazardous materials. Physical effort requires full range of body motion. All of the following are essential job functions.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, stretch, and reach to gain access to all areas needed to perform required function on the job.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects, including assisting in the lifting of patients with a gait belt.
  • Must be able to stand and walk or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and operate basic office equipment, such as computer and telephone.
  • Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability to communicate with patients, co-workers, and medical community partners.
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read and interpret written material.
  • Must be able to maintain composure under the stress of emergency situations, frequent interruptions, and heavy workload demands.

Job Duties:

  • Complies with all job duties required of a Medical Assistant (see Medical Assistant job description).
  • Trains or assigns training of new departmental employees.
  • Monitors and enforces departmental employee work schedules.
  • Accepts and triages departmental employees concerns and/or issues in a timely manner.
  • Accepts and triages patient concerns/issues relating to department in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with Clinic Administrator to ensure organizational issues are resolved.
  • Regularly updates departmental employees on operational changes/updates.
  • Assures understanding, implementation, and adherence to clinic policies and procedures within department.
  • Evaluates performance and recommends disciplinary action of all departmental employees.
  • Analyzes and recommends changes in departmental operational systems and policies and procedures.
  • Acts as OSHA safety coordinator and ensures OSHA compliance.
  • Manages time appropriately.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned.

Performance Requirements:

  • Knowledge of medical practice as it relates to assisting a provider in the delivery of patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of organizations policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of general computer operations.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Record.
  • Skill in obtaining vital signs.
  • Skill in coordinating all aspects of a patient care plan.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining professional and effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and medical community partners.
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in high stress or emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member within the medical office.
  • Ability to direct and supervise other employees.

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduation or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant in a surgical Practice.
  • Medical Assisting, CNA, or applicable certification strongly preferred
  • EPIC experience is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
