Bad Cat Coffee is a Cat Themed Coffee Shop within the Morgan Street Food Hall in the exciting Warehouse District in Downtown Raleigh. We are looking for an evening shift Barista (this is considered a “closing shift” starting at 3:30 or 4pm to 8:30pm- ish) to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages as well as crepes, bagels and other quick serve food. Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks & food menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, taking orders as well as simple food and beverage prep. To be successful in this role, you should have exceptional customer service skills and knowledge of basic kitchen skills. You should be able to work various shifts if necessary, however we hope to provide a schedule that will remain the same week in and out to make planning your life easier. Note: this position’s compensation includes hourly wage and tips. Your wage will depend on your availability, previous work experience, and skills, but we start at $12.50/hour plus your share of credit card and cash tips.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter (always cheerful and attentive)
• Alert customers to our drink & food menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare food and beverages following recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, muffins, crepes and bagels
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keep the bar and food board area clean
• Maintain stock of dry goods, food items and drink supplies
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
• Close up the shop with extra cleaning/closing duties.

Skills

• Previous work experience as a Barista, cook or Waiter/Waitress is preferred however, if you know your way around in the kitchen and like to cook or prepare drinks you're probably a perfect fit for this position.
• Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
• Ability to follow sanitation regulations
• Flexibility to work various shifts but we intend to give you a steady and stable work schedule.
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
