The Language and Learning Lab is Hiring a Job Coach - Transition Specialist Near Bronx, NY
The Language and Learning Lab is seeking an energetic and creative person to provide services to young people who are still in school or have recently graduated. The goals of the transition specialist are to assist people in finding jobs where they can thrive and encourage independent living. By helping youth to engage in discovery activities, job exploration, and work readiness activities, the specialist helps youth identify their interests, needs, and skills. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate full-time job coach to provide vocational and transitional training to people with developmental disabilities as they enter new chapters in their lives. The transition specialist encourages young adults to explore what they want out of life and to chart their own journeys. Whether it’s finding a job, making a contribution in a volunteer role, establishing a home, or being part of the community, the goal is to assist the person to lead a full and active life. Requirements:
Valid New York State social work license, special education teacher certificate or similar
Must be willing to provide home/community based services in Bronx
Availability five days a week, Monday - Friday
Experience providing special instruction and transitional and vocational training to young adults diagnosed with Autism, ADHD and various language and behavior disorders
Responsibilities:
Developing internships, employment opportunities, and community/skill building activities for participants in the program
Creating curriculum for youth who are in transition, including but not limited to Self Advocacy, Work Readiness, and Career Exploration
Maintaining weekly, quarterly, and annual paperwork including daily session notes, progress reports and annual review
