The Controller will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, creating financial reporting documents, and the training of the accounting staff. The Controller will ensure that financial reporting and documents are prepared for key stakeholders and used to understand the financial state of the business. The ideal candidate will assist management with important financial decisions and risk management as well as have experience with required fillings for publicly held companies.
The duties and responsibilities of the Controller include but are not limited to:

• Produces financial reporting that aligns with GAAP reporting standards.
• Provides financial analysis regarding pricing decisions, inventory, and expense management/reduction.
• Ensures accuracy of the accounting team’s work. Provides necessary training and coaching to direct reports.
• Provides leadership to the accounting team including the completion of performance appraisals, providing regular coaching and feedback, and participates in the recruiting process for new team members.
• Maintains accounting policies and procedures and ensures controls exist to reduce risk.
• Files all quarterly and annual reports with Securities and Exchange Commission.
• Provides necessary information for external auditors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• At least 5 years’ experience as a Controller or overseeing the accounting/finance operations of an organization.
• Prior experience working in a publicly held organization.
• Previous experience as an accountant or financial analyst.
• Must have experience with creating financial reports and documents.
• 5 years supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication skills. Able to present to employees at all levels within an organization.
• Ability to comfortably delegate and follow up regarding task management.
• Technology savvy can learn innovative technology quickly.
• Analytical skills
• BA degree in finance or related field preferred.
• Accounting or Finance certification such as CPA, CMA, etc. a plus.
