POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Manager, Marketing Technologies will mature UX practice, process, and standards for evolving User Experience (UX) Design at NMDP. This position will lead a team of designers accountable for custom and SaaS based products. The Manager will be responsible for providing user experience leadership of key practice domains: analysis, architecture, design, quality, and implementation.

This role will work closely with Product Management, Marketing, and technical delivery teams to establish the UX team has integral function in the delivery cycle, develop transparent backlogs and align on work prioritization. This work includes but is not limited to user research, sketching and brainstorming sessions, prototyping, wireframes, creative design, planning, and formal presentations. This individual will mentor and coach both junior and senior level UX Designers. This position can be remote (US) or hybrid. #LI-Remote #LI-Hybrid.

ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

Team Leadership:

  • Lead the UX design team on a day-to-day basis, developing, inspiring, and coaching the team in user experience, interaction design, and visual design growth, while guiding them to create beautiful, simple, usable, and accessible solutions within our technical capabilities and infrastructure, and pushing for innovation where it makes sense.
  • Work with leadership to forecast, plan and prioritize UX resourcing across our digital portfolio, matching colleague skills and interests with project opportunities.
  • Set expectations with project and product teams to prioritize work; ensure stakeholders alignment and engagement across work efforts.
    Play an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals.
  • Foster a culture of ongoing user research and testing, operationalizing the work done to date and encouraging a responsibility to “test early, test often” across the team.
  • Lead cross-functional service design visioning sessions to identify experience and process gaps and bring forward prioritized recommendations to address through projects.
  • Build and maintain a healthy UX culture within the team and promote engagement with the UX team across the organization.
  • Responsible for coaching and professional development of team members and their annual performance evaluations.
  • Set the tone for building relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate with and align team on business strategies and expectations.
  • Define and measure team KPIs and implement ways to maximize efficiency, productivity, and performance.

General Accountabilities:

  • Mature the UX community of practice through research and adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
  • Project management of all UX UI-related tasks and jobs assigned to team. Help define timelines, facilitate progress, risk mitigation, and ensure all projects successfully reach their goals. 
  • Manage tool identification, periodic reevaluation, licensing and renewal.
    Confidently present design concepts, clearly articulate ideas, and participate in sessions with leaders, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Define research methods and testing strategies, identify usability metrics, interview and observe users, research competitors, and synthesize findings into meaningful recommendations.
  • Establish, enforce, communicate, and develop UX standards including ADA compliance, best practices, digital style guide, conventions, patterns, repeatable processes and support a design system across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in information science, information design, computer science, human computer interaction (HCI), instructional design, learning technology, assistive technology, related field or equivalent industry training / experience.
  • 8 years experience working on complex applications in an interaction design, content strategy, UX writing, information design, user interface design, human factors engineering, user experience, or information architect position3 years of team management experience.
  • 2 years managing design teams.
  • 1-3 years of experience with Salesforce HealthCloud and ServiceCloud.
  • A portfolio of work demonstrating your experience, understanding, and process of creating human-centered design solutions with measurable results.
  • Proficiency with UX design tools. (e.g., Sketch, Invision, Adobe XD, Figma, Axure, Balsamiq).
  • Demonstrated fluency in the best practices for web-based and mobile information architecture and responsive design.
  • Solid understanding of HTML/CSS; understanding how design translates to code.

Ability to:

  • Influence skills and be able to effectively deal with ambiguous situations and make decisions. 
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Learning agility and ability to apply critical thinking to increasingly complex and changing work. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)

  • Experience with modern CMS/DXP platforms (i.e., Sitecore, Adobe AEM, Episerver).
