Wayne County United Soccer Club is Hiring a Head Soccer Coach Near Goldsboro, NC

Position: Head Coach - Wayne County United Soccer Club

Reports to: WCUSC Director of Coaching (DOC)

Summary of Job Description:

The Head Coach is charged with administering the development and educational aspects of soccer to the players on their assigned teams. Oversee player development.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Shall oversee all soccer activities pertaining to assigned team(s)
  • Manage day to day team operations
  • Work closely and communicate with Team Manager (TM)
  • Respond promptly to requests from the DOC, TM or other clubs related to match requests
  • Act as an ambassador for the Club and promote the interests of the Club at all times
  • Administer and implement development curriculum for their assigned team(s)
  • Develop and monitor player standards and expectations
  • Facilitate player education & encourage their growth
  • Follow the standard player evaluation
  • Perform semi-annual player evaluations; Contribute to the standards
  • Ensure semi-annual written player evaluations are turned in for review and share results with the parents/players
  • Attend meetings with all coaches and discuss tournament selection, league play, player development, recruiting, and other topics deemed reasonable
  • Evaluate effectiveness of development program and report outcomes to DOC
  • Work with DOC to identify key tournament selections
  • Follow curriculum and player development plans laid out by DOC
  • Attend all practices and games; if an activity needs to be canceled or rescheduled obtain consent from the Director of Coaching first
  • Attend WCUSC Board meetings if available
  • Hold Parent and/or Player meetings as necessary or requested by DOC or BOD
  • Engage in community involvement by promoting the Club and assisting with public relations, including appearances at Club functions, tournaments and events
  • Coordinate with DOC regarding scouting middle and high school games in order to evaluate talent and recruit additional players to the club (eligible for reimbursement if applicable)
  • Assist with any tournament events, hosted or sponsored
  • Return all issued equipment at the end of the season; missing or damaged items may result in a compensation deduction

Tryouts & Supplementals:

  • Assist as requested by DOC or BOD
  • Complete assessments and turn in to DOC
  • Recommend formation of teams to DOC based on player numbers

Qualifications:

  • Licenses: Coaching license of Grassroots or higher
  • Experience: Ideally 1 Year of experience as a Rec or Club Coach
  • Skills:
  • Dependable, Punctual
  • Ability to identify player talent
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Facilitate conflict resolution
  • Collaborative

Key Relationships:

  • WCUSC DOC
  • WCUSC Board of Directors
  • Other coaches, Team Managers, & parents

Restrictions: The holder of this position is unable to perform similar duties for another soccer club, association or school without prior approval from the WCUSC Executive Board.

Term: Head Coaches are Independent Contractors. No specified term length for this position. The WCUSC Executive Board has sole discretion in the removal of a Head Coach subject to Club bylaws. Parents of the Team may also voice their concern to the DOC or Board of Directors and request a Head Coach be removed from a team.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Seasonal

Pay: $400.00 - $1,400.00 per month

Expected hours: 8 – 15 per week
