POSITION SUMMARY
The RN-Operating Room position is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the OR. Assist and anticipate the needs of all team members in the OR.

Serves as a role model to other staff nurses and technicians.
Assists in the orientation and training of new employees.
Above average ability to plan and implement patient care.
Ability to make sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory.
Awareness of perioperative role of nurse in the operating room.
Medical records documentation is legible, concise and accurate.
Ability to organize equipment, instruments, medication and supplies for cases according to patient needs and physician preference cards.
Assumes responsibility for competency and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education.
Working knowledge and experience in hospital or ambulatory surgical center operating room.
Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately.
Ability to utilize resources in a timely, organized and cost-effective manner.
Ability to circulate all types of cases.
Monitors stock levels, outdated supplies and equipment needs and reports appropriately.
Ability to operate standard operating room machinery, equipment, autoclaves, washer sterilizer, and patient monitors.
Ability to maintain positive attitude and talk confidently about patient results
Good computer skills including use of standard office programs
Ability to operate standard office equipment
Ability to speak, read, and write in English
Ability to work well under pressure and accept additional assignments willingly
Ability to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate workload
Ability to concentrate, think, and learn
Ability to hear, see, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, lift, push and pull
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Current Alabama RN license; Two (2) years operating room nurse experience preferred. IV skills preferred. BLS required; ACLS encouraged. All employees must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
