Position Description:
As a Medical Office Receptionist, you will be required to provide exceptional customer service for our patients, check-in patients, verify insurance, and collect appointment dues. A strong candidate will possess organization skills, have initiative, and be capable of multitasking in a fast-paced working environment .
Areas of Responsibilites:
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate department or individual
- Schedule and confirm appointments and manage the appointment calendar
- Scan patient information into Health Fusion
- Verify patient insurance information, obtain benefits, and collect necessary payments
- Maintain patient records and update information as needed
- Assist with billing and coding tasks as required
- Ensure the waiting area is clean and organized
- Balance and bookkeep cash drawer daily
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and address any concerns or questions
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Previous experience working in a medical/neurology office setting preferred
- Must be able to read, write and speak English (we encourage Bilingual candidates to apply)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in using phone systems and other office equipment - general office skills required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Must be self-directed, exhibit team member attributes, and have “customer-first” skills
- Friendly, professional, and customer-oriented attitude
- Ability to work in an fast-paced work environment and maintain patient volume and flow
- Extensive Knowledge and understanding of the following are required: insurance benefits and verification processes, patient balance collection processes, HIPAA, Texas Patient Privacy Laws
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Successfully completed a secretarial science program from accredited college or university OR have a minimum of six (6) months experience in a clerical role
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years Front Desk experience in a medical setting (Neurology preferred)
- Healthcare setting: 3 years (Preferred)
- Customer service: 2 years (Preferred)
- Medical terminology: 2 years (Preferred)
- Computer skills: 2 years (Preferred)
