We are seeking an Early Childhood Education Inclusion Coordinator for our early learning center to help with the work we do.

Department Function:

Passages Charter School serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Focused specifically on the needs of immigrant and refugee students. Passages offers a tailored educational program focused on high academic standards and instruction based on students' individual needs.

Job Function:

Under the direction of the Director of Early Childhood Education, the Inclusion Coordinator promotes the school readiness of Trellus’ Early Learning Programs by providing technical assistance, mentoring, and training to the staff and agency. The planning of children’s readiness to learn involves culturally responsive, integrated service delivery of child development, disabilities, and mental health that supports learning environments to a) enhance children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development and b) promote children’s growth in language, literacy, mathematics, science, social and emotional development, creative arts, physical development, and approaches to learning.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains content development expertise and disseminates such knowledge by providing ongoing quality assistance to staff.
  • Develops and disseminates resources and best practices for the process of implementing quality improvement efforts.
  • Promotes continuous quality improvement and quality assurance efforts for the agency.
  • Facilitates peer-to-peer learning both one-on-one and group settings in joint process of capacity-building strategies.
  • Supervises teaching staff.
  • Facilitating the development, implementation, and coordination of internal support plans (action plans, behavior plans) with parents, teachers, and supervisors.
  • Implementation and evaluation of skills and strategies.
  • Providing ongoing quality assistance to address children’s challenging behaviors and sensory needs.
  • Supports the professional development of all staff by delivering coaching and technical assistance.
  • Participates in site visits, classrooms observations, and work groups to assess program needs and planning strategies for system/process improvement and/or development of early childhood education, disabilities, and mental health.
  • Assesses the implementation of the agency’s work plan to ensure the program/content goals and objectives are met.
  • Providing guidance and support to staff with implementation of curriculum/individualization plans and ongoing assessments.
  • Submit and coordinate special education referrals and monitoring of progress for educational plans.
  • Coordinate child and/or family referrals with the support of the Education Coordinator
  • Provide support services of children’s transition plan.
  • Collaborate with the Education Coordinator and other content and functional area coordinators to ensure holistic program delivery.
  • Participate in child/family staffing.
  • Develop, prepare, coordinate, and maintain relevant meetings, training, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain records are up to date and accurate across all funder requirements and internal systems.
  • Maintain the required percentage of students who obtained IEP/IFSP’s to fulfill funder requirements and referrals.
  • Demonstrate ability to have a positive impact on Trellus programs.
  • Initiate and develop projects that will improve the quality of services offered by Trellus.

Qualifications (Skills/Knowledge/Abilities):

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or Administration, Masters preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in federally funded Head Start programs and City of Chicago funding models.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local government procedures and guidelines
  • Two years’ experience in quality and contract management
  • Strong knowledge with IFSP/IEP referral systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, community, private partners, and external agencies and to make informed and objective decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and computer software, and comprehensive familiarity with all aspects of the Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge in DFSS, CPS, and ISBE data systems.
  • Experience working in a school-based program with adults and children.
  • Bilingual / or proficiency in more than English
