Title: Parts Inventory Control and Purchasing Specialist

Summary

The Parts Inventory Control and Purchasing Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring seamless parts availability and maintaining the profitability of the dealership's parts department. This individual meticulously manages inventory levels, optimizes stock, sources parts efficiently, and maintains strong vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels, sales trends, and parts usage to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory records within the dealership's management system.
  • Process the return of defective, obsolete, and overstocked parts.
  • Purchasing:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parts suppliers and vendors.
  • Evaluate and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules for parts purchases.
  • Source and order parts as needed, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Expedite critical orders and manage backorders effectively.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Generate and analyze parts inventory reports, such as stock status, turnover rates, and sales trends.
  • Use data to identify opportunities to improve inventory efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for the Parts Manager.
  • Customer Service:
  • Collaborate with the parts sales team to ensure excellent customer service within the department.
  • Assist with parts identification and selection as needed.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify areas for improvement in inventory control and purchasing processes.
  • Recommend and contribute to streamlining workflows and enhancing systems.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in inventory control, purchasing, or a related field.
  • Experience in the automotive or heavy-duty equipment industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of semi-trailer parts and components.
  • Negotiation and vendor management experience.
