Game Arena is Hiring a Summer Camp Instructor Near Columbus, OH

Job Description
Game Arena will be hosting educational camps and interactive experiences this summer featuring video game titles such as Minecraft, Fortnite and more at the COSI Science Center Early June to Early August 2024!

We are looking for two to four seasonal staff members who have a passion for games and education to instruct our Summer Camps and Open Play Hours.

We are offering two camp programs: Minecraft & Fortnite and Variety Games. Each camp will include a daily curriculum focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) oriented concepts that incorporate program specific Games, COSI Exhibit field trips and Hands-On activities to camp participants. Camp participants will be students from 5th to 8th grade.

This position can be accredited to Summer Internship requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for timely arrival and adherence to work schedule.
  • Participate in training and onboarding tasks prior to camp instruction.
  • Responsible for leading classes on designated topics and supervising camp participants within COSI exhibit halls.
  • Serves as a role model and monitors the health, safety and welfare of camp participants.
  • Proficiency in the usage of PC and VR systems to teach their correlating game lessons.
  • Encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity in camp participants through a daily curriculum content and instructor engagement.
  • Enforcing camp rules and understanding all necessary emergency procedures in compliance with COSI’s facility.
  • Communicates appropriate information to parents as needed and maintains accurate camp attendance.
  • Organizes and maintains all camp equipment, supplies, and camp areas.
  • Representing Game Arena through a high standard of professionalism, conduct, and appropriate dress.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma / GED (Required)
  • 1 years of Childcare (Preferred)
  • Experience working with children in a camp, educational, or recreational setting (Preferred)
  • Video Game / Computer Software Experience (Preferred)
  • Ability to participate in physical activities and lift up to 25lbs.
  • Able to effectively communicate and engage with camp participants and parents.
  • High standard of responsibility and accountability.
  • Upbeat, engaging personality.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Students pursuing a degree in Education, Video Game, or other related fields are highly encouraged to apply!

Job Duration

Training

Camps are Monday through Friday 9:30am - 5:00pm.

Camp 1: July 8 - 12

Camp 2: July 15 - 19

Camp 3: July 22 -26

Camp 4: July 29 - August 2

To be considered for hire, you must be available for the entirety of at least one full week of a camp.

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Internship

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
