Morehouse Parish School District is Hiring a (2) Special Ed. Resource Teacher - Morehouse Elementary Near Louisiana, LA

POSITION: SpEd Resource Teacher (2) 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 Months

SALARY: See MPSD Teacher Pay Scale 

DATES TO APPLY: May 6, 2024 - June 28, 2024 (or until position is filled)

Qualified applicants who have submitted a complete application packet will be contacted and notified of an interview schedule by the school principal. 

JOB PURPOSE: To instruct and assist students with learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities by providing approved and aligned instruction and/or support services as prescribed in their Individual Education Plan (IEP) in the resource and general ed. setting while working collaboratively with teachers, service providers, caretakers, and other community partners for the design and implementation of educational programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

The applicant shall possess the certification required by the applicable rules and regulations of the Louisiana Department of Education and/or the Louisiana Board of Elementary & Secondary Education when the application begins to hold the position. (See Bulletin 746)

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Elementary Education or a
    related field to the teaching assignment. 
  • A master's degree in a related discipline/field is preferred
  • Valid Louisiana teaching certificate with a Mild-Moderate Endorsement
  • Applicants with a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate must enroll (be currently enrolled) in a special education add-on program before the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS

  • Knowledge of curriculum and core academic subject assigned
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior in a constructive and positive manner
  • Demonstrate competency in digital-age work and student learning
  • Experience in developing IEPs, progress monitoring, providing instructional modifications and
    accommodations
  • Evidence of prior successful teaching experience is a plus

 INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS WITHOUT A TEACHING LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Minimum requirement: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in a related field or discipline.
  • Proof of enrollment in an approved Louisiana Teacher Preparation Program
  • An official document listing current and completed coursework is required
