Job Title: Maintenance Technician /Transportation

This candidate is responsible for ensuring the safe and timely transportation of residents to and from
their appointments, errands, and other activities. As a member of the community’s support staff, the
Transportation Staff plays a vital role in ensuring that residents are able to maintain their independence
and continue to engage with the community. This candidate will ensure our community is in tip-top
shape. Because of your hard work, every piece of equipment is in great working condition. Our buildings
have a great curb appeal, and our preventive maintenance plan is always ahead of schedule! Above all,
you will exhibit a passion for serving seniors while contributing to the positive environment our residents
are proud to call home.

Responsibilities:

• Provide safe and timely transportation for residents to and from appointments, errands, and other
activities, as needed;
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the transportation vehicle(s);
• Assist residents with getting in and out of the transportation vehicle, as needed;
• Ensure that all necessary paperwork and documentation related to transportation is completed
accurately and in a timely manner;
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude while interacting with residents, their families, and
staff;
• Notify the appropriate staff members of any concerns related to the transportation of residents;
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on the transportation vehicle(s), as required;
• Communicate effectively with residents and staff to ensure that transportation needs are being met;
• Document preventative maintenance programs for facility and equipment, as assigned.
• Maintain grounds including outside building repair and lawn maintenance in cooperation with the
landscaping contractor and garbage removal services.
• Maintain all areas inside the building, including offices, to include, but not be limited to: cleaning
and shampooing of carpets and furniture window cleaning, and the maintenance and replacement
of vinyl floors.
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of facility equipment in order to ensure proper function.
• Prepare and refurbish apartments for resident move-ins; including painting, carpet laying, and
replacement of vinyl floors.
• Inspect resident apartments for potential problems and hazards.
• Schedule and/or perform preventative maintenance and keep quality assurance records up-to-date
for the community.
• Perform janitorial tasks including the reparation and maintenance of equipment and building
facilities.
• Respond to emergencies outside of normal working schedule as necessary.
• Learn and assist with maintenance on emergency response systems and other computerized systems
in the community.
• Communicate effectively with management, co-workers, residents, families, visitors, and other
disciplines.
• Adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, worker safety and other emergency
procedures.
● Maintain resident confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA policies.
• Seek out and perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications:

• Must have compassion for and desire to work alongside our aging population!
● Must have a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent required.
● Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
● Demonstrates a high proficiency and understanding of responsibilities as noted above.
● Experience preferred in maintaining equipment to ensure the community is running efficiently.
● Possess an understanding of OSHA and life safety regulations.
● One (1) year supervisory and management experience which may include recruiting staff, coaching,
performance management, responsibility of daily department operations.
● Ability to handle multiple priorities.
● Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate small group
presentations and training.
● Competent in organizational, time management skills.
● Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills.
● Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) with the ability to learn
new applications.
● Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
