Premier Health Medical Care is Hiring an Associate Program Medical Director Near Englewood, OH

Job Description

The Miami Valley Hospital North (MVHN) Associate Program Medical Director (APMD) works closely with the Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) Program Medical Director (PMD) and operational staff to; enhance day-today clinical operations, achieving group quality metrics, coordinating continuing education opportunities, orientation of new physicians, to enhance the network’s delivery of quality patient care and meet legal compliance.

This position is also responsible for providing clinical management to a team of patients while assisting with administrative duties.

Together with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the PMD, the APMD, and program practice manager are responsible for the performance of the Miami Valley Hospitalist North team and its specific goals.

Reporting Structure
The Associate Program Medical Director reports directly to the PMD at MVH and a dotted reporting line to the MVHN CMO.

Schedule

Associate Program Medical Director will work Monday through Friday preferably, however other full-time schedules that will guarantee successful administrative oversight are negotiable.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • 70% Clinical – Direct Patient Care as defined by job description of a staff physician. 30% Administrative outlined below.
  • Works directly with MVH PMD to ensure quality patient care and efficient workflow.
  • Participates in the interviews, hiring & orientation process for all Hospitalist physicians and APP.
  • Serves as a hospitalist representative for assigned hospital committees and initiatives.
  • Serves as a leader, facilitates day-to-day hospitalist operations and throughput while working with our partners in Nursing and ED.
  • Works with the hospital quality team to coordinate quality metrics outcomes and reviews
  • Reviews and addresses Patient Experience concerns.
  • Proactively provides input into the development of practice procedures, standards, and strategies.
  • Balancing the duties of a physician with those of an administrator.
  • Ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of medical care.
  • Able to motivate staff; promote team building; assume leadership role within clinical arena.
  • Understands and is committed to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Serve as a role model of expected performance
  • Provide regular formal and informal feedback to team and individuals including annual performance reviews; coach and manage clinical expectations (e.g., LOS management, use of guidelines, documentation practices, communication habits, etc.)
  • Manage marginal or unsatisfactory performance
  • Orientation and training of new physicians and Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Relationship management with key clinical and administrative stakeholders at the hospital, including but not limited to: ED, Intensivists, Surgeons, Medical specialists, Nursing, pharmacy and other ancillary staff, Hospital/Campus VPMA, CMO, Nursing and Medical Directors, Chief of Staff, and Premier Health System CMO.
  • Serve in a partnership role with the Program Medical Director to define and manage work allocation and workflow policies and processes.
  • Serve in a partnership role to define and manage service agreements and scope of practice
    • Examples include direct admissions, perioperative and consultative care, ED consultations.
    • Service recovery (especially patient experience issues)
    • Collaboration with MVHN Nursing staff as well as operational teams
  • Champion for and support of standardized Hospitalist Group processes, tools, services
  • Provide input to the Hospitalist Group and Premier Health activities such as clinical audits, care delays, hospital outcomes, decision support, physician training, physician job description

Job Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Current board certification in Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice by respective allopathic or osteopathic boards
  • License to practice in the state of Ohio
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience
