Mountain Shadows Animal Hospital is Hiring an Associate Veterinarian Near Salida, CO

Mountain Shadows Animal Hospital is located in the heart of the Colorado Rockies and has been serving the beautiful Arkansas river valley for over 40 years. The hospital is minutes away from bike trails, hiking trails, rafting, skiing, and historic downtown Salida. As Salida is growing, so is our clientele, and we are looking for an enthusiastic professional to come on board full-time to join our one doctor practice. This position is perfect for someone seeking a solid, long-term position in a great recreational area. Our clinic is equipped with digital X-ray, in-house Abaxis labwork machines, Idexx Cornerstone database, Hill’s Science diet prescription foods, and more. Here in the shadow of the Sawatch mountains, we see a variety of small and large animal patients. We work regularly with a couple of low-cost spay/neuter programs, we see emergencies during business hours, and we occasionally treat the injured wildlife animal. We are excited to welcome a friendly and dedicated veterinarian to our motivated team here at Mountain Shadows Animal Hospital!

Salary: Salary Base at $90,000-100,000 during first year of employment

Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00PM, lunch from 12PM to 1:30PM. No nights.

Veterinarian Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university
  • Active veterinary license in the state of Colorado
  • Professional appearance and behavior
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills verbal and written, and the ability to educate and build rapport with pet owners
  • Proficiency in general medicine, dental care, and small animal surgery preferred
  • 2 years of experience as a practicing Veterinarian preferred

Large animal experience not required**

Veterinarian Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical and surgical care for small animal patients
  • Develop diagnostic and treatment plans for patients in your care
  • See patients for drop-off treatments and appointment exams
  • Accommodate walk-ins/same-day exams as much as possible
  • Utilize support staff to the full extent of their job descriptions
  • Provide pet parent education, guidance, and support in an efficient, compassionate manner
  • Provide follow-up on all medical and surgical conditions or complications
