Parenting Student Support Coach

Pennsylvania Institute of Technology has been awarded a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide dedicated services tailored towards Parenting Students. The primary goal is improving retention by mitigating challenges that prevent students from attaining academic success.

This position will be the key personnel in conducting outreach to County Assistance Offices and other community organizations; assisting our students who are receiving or may be eligible to receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and/or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) under the higher threshold; apprising participants of their potential continued or eligibility under the expanded income eligibility in Childcare Subsidies; and developing educational workshops and trainings conducted by community connections specifically for parenting students to learn more about options and services available to them both internally and on the government level, and how to apply, as well as providing additional support throughout the referral to completion of the intervention, tracking their success.

This role also conducts periodic reevaluation and assessment via entry, exit, and post service assessments to evaluate effectiveness, impact, and continued need., and maintain detailed and statistical data.

This role reports to the Vice President of Student Engagement and Chief of Staff. 

This position will remain open until filled. Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Connecting with students upon enrollment to determine Parent Status and providing them with a Program Application, assisting with completion when needed;
  • Meet with Parenting Students and work with them to assess current situations, supports, needs, and areas for concern;
  • Act as a liaison with Career Services, Counseling, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, and other student facing departments for program students.
  • Assist students who are receiving or may be eligible to receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and/or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) under the higher threshold. 
  • Conducting outreach to County Assistance Offices and other community organizations; confer with case managers and arrange student support services, such as transportation allowances, books, and career-related clothing and equipment.
  • Work with students enrolled in college courses to provide academic support and assistance, including program planning, tutoring, information giving and assistance completing forms.
  • Maintain close contact with County Assistance Office personnel to monitor student performance, arrange necessary support services, 
  • Prepare and submit reports to county and state agencies.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with the assessment of Scholarship and Hardship Applications for case load
  • Perform other related duties as necessary and as assigned.

Salary Range

$64,500 plus benefits
