Title: Adjunct Instructor-Introduction to Sonography/Ultrasound

Department: Academic Affairs

Reports to: Program Director

Job Status: Part-time

Hours of Work: varies by term

Job Description

Teaching 

  1. Teach assigned courses.
  2. Engage in tutoring.
  3. Ensures that "at-risk" students are identified in the Early Intervention System program.
  4. Perform clinical/work-site visits, as appropriate.
  5. Post mid-term and final grades in compliance with College expectations, as outlined in the faculty handbook.
  6. Recommend textbooks, web sites and other instructional material to the Program Director.
  7. Update attendance on a daily basis.

Curricula Development 

  1. Continue to research changes in one’s discipline to provide students with the most updated evidence-based information.
  2. Create assignments that link course learning outcomes to validate the transfer of knowledge.
  3. Design and produce hands-on activities for students that simulate real-world experience.
  4. Review, recommend, and amend current curricula, as appropriate.
  5. Undertake special projects at the direction of your program director.

 Student Mentoring 

  1. Establish and maintain office hours and web site hours for student advisement or consultation.
  2. Participate in retention activities.

Assessment of Learning Outcomes 

  1. Assess learning objectives of the program of study based upon the Annual Assessment of Student Learning Plan.

Accreditation and Compliance 

  1. Support activities that ensure compliance of accreditation rules, regulations, and mandates.
  2. Comply with all policies and requirements of the College as set forth in the Faculty Handbook.
  3. Ensure all safety rules are posted and followed in lab areas.
  4. Ensure that all activities are conducted in an ethical and legal manner.
  5. Identify and implement best practices to demonstrate Standards of Excellence as defined by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
  6. Maintain the highest level of integrity in all academic matters.
  7. Provide support on Middle States Commission on Higher Education committees.
  8. Support the strategic goals of the College.

Marketing and Promotion of Program of Study 

  1. Ensure professional behavior when representing the College in a public setting.
  2. Utilize tact, sensitivity, good judgment, diplomacy, and discretion when interacting with external and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. Preferred level of education: Master’s degree. Minimum level of education: Associate degree.
  2. Minimum of 3 years professional experience.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.
  4. Current licensure, if applicable.
  5. Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.

Skills

  1. Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and with third parties, regardless of their level of education, sophistication, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic status. 
  2. Understand that effective interaction across departmental boundaries is a collaborative process.
  3. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  4. Experience with learning platforms, such as Canvas, Moodlerooms or Blackboard.
  5. Enjoy a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment.
  6. Proactive, creative problem-solver with a high level of objectivity.

The College requires all new employees to have successfully completed background clearances. New employees must complete the background clearances prior to hire and, for those employees having direct contact with minors other than those described above, prior to the time they will begin having direct contact with minors and every 60 months thereafter. The College also reserves the right to require any employee to have a background check in its discretion during employment. Clearances required include a PA Statewide Criminal Record search, PA Child Abuse History, and FBI Criminal History record fingerprint search. A criminal record may be considered justification not to hire or for employment termination, depending upon the circumstances and record.
