Job description

When the original Lucys Retired Surfers Bar and Restaurant opened in New York City in 1985, it was meant to be a refuge for displaced servers banging out a living in the concrete jungle.

But its zany staff, killer drinks, and laid-back vibe attracted more than just Upper West Siders who longed for the beach.

Lucys quickly became a second home for its guests-a place where anyone could walk in and immediately feel like they belonged.

Responsibilities :

• Take food and drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude.
• Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
• Engage with customers in a friendly manner.
• Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.
• Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
• Collect payments from tables.
• Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
• Help food preparation staff when necessary.

Requirements Skills / Experience / Requirements

• Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum of six months to a one-year as a server preferred
• Ability to interact professionally with other departments and outside contacts.
• Ability to complete a heavy workload and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Good judgment and decision-making abilities.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high energy, and physically demanding environment.
• Must be able to spend 100% of working time standing, walking, and reaching.
• Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally, from position to position.
• Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
• Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
