Midwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is Hiring a Part-Time Dental Assistant Near Coldwater, MI

Midwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is looking to hire a part-time dental assistant for our location in Coldwater, Michigan. Dental assisting experience is a plus, but is not required. On-the-job training can be provided to those who are looking to pursue a career in the dental field. Surgical Tech, Medical assistants or EMT's are welcome to apply. This is a two day a week ( Wednesday and Friday ) position with additional one half day Saturday a month.

Position : Dental Assistant

Position Summary : Assist the doctor by being responsible for various dental assisting duties, maintains equipment and instruments following OSHA requirements, and treats each patient with respect and professionalism.

Primary Duties :

  • Clean and sterilize instruments
  • Assists doctor during procedures
  • Prepare and set-up trays
  • Administer & process x-rays
  • Pt. instructions following trtmt
  • Maintain lab & operating work areas
  • Check, switch, & order gas tanks
  • Maintain emergency box supplies
  • Clean Operatories
  • Direct & prepare patients for surgery
  • Change traps monthly
  • Dry Test Strips
  • Check AED, batteries, laryngoscope

Secondary Duties :

  • Take out trash
  • Maintain current x-ray certification
  • Check pt. flow from front desk
  • Attend required office meetings
  • Biological steam test
  • Fire Extinguisher check monthly
  • Draw up/Count medications
  • Gauze Packs/water syringes
  • Laundering uniforms and linen
  • Impressions
  • Schedule doctor lunches
  • Biohazard

Physical Requirements :

  • Able to stand for long hours, stock rooms,
  • Eye-hand coordination
  • Able to lift & hold an object for a lengthy period
  • Ability to respond quickly to oral instructions
  • Bending, stooping, walking
  • Good vision & hearing

Skills : Ability to operate and maintain: x-ray machine, panorex, ultrasonic, autoclave, processor oxygen & nitrous oxide, blood pressure & pulse meter, suction, hand pieces dry heat sterilization, dental, implant materials and equipment. CPR, OSHA, radiology, dental assistant certification

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
