Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region is Hiring a Volunteer Coordinator Near La Crosse, WI

Job Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for making Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region a premier place to volunteer. Habitat seeks a full-time Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, retain, and recognize hundreds of volunteers who support Habitat’s mission. The Volunteer Coordinator will collaborate with other Habitat staff to conduct outreach and fill organizational needs. Habitat encourages creativity and innovation in developing outreach and appreciation strategies. This position will be responsible for careful stewardship of the affiliate’s presence in our community and telling “The Habitat story” with creativity, thought, and intention throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment

  • In partnership with the Community Outreach Director, develop and direct an outreach plan to recruit a diverse cohort of volunteers.
  • Produce informational materials to promote Habitat and its volunteer opportunities
  • Create and implement strategies to identify and develop relationships with individual volunteers
  • Create and implement strategies to identify and develop relationships with corporations and local businesses, community organizations and churches
  • Attend volunteer fairs and tradeshows
  • Conduct speaking engagements as requested/needed

Volunteer Experience Retention

  • Promptly respond to all volunteer inquiries. Interview and place volunteers in positions aligned with their interests and skills
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new and prospective volunteers
  • Coordinate scheduling of individual and groups of volunteers
  • Manage, maintain, and review weekly ReStore and construction schedules
  • Guarantee a high-quality experience for every volunteer
  • Communicate with volunteers regularly and monitor volunteer satisfaction
  • Maintain a volunteer tracking database to measure growth, assess needs, and reach key milestones

Volunteer Recognition

  • Develop and execute comprehensive recognition plan, ensuring volunteers receive consistent appreciation for their work
  • Create unique content and celebrations for Volunteer Appreciation Month (April)

Qualifications

  • Able to relate well to diverse populations—age, race, class, gender, and creed. Must be able to develop a good rapport with volunteers and partner families
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends if necessary
  • Well organized, self-motivated, and strong communicator
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, use of the web, and customer management systems.

Position Information

  • This is a permanent, full-time, non-exempt position of 40 hours/week. Pay range: $19.23 – $21.63/hour. Offers flexible scheduling. Habitat for Humanity offers paid time off, paid sick time, paid holidays, dental/vision insurance, accident insurance, and retirement.
