Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek is Hiring a Preventive Maintenance Technician Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

As a Hotel Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all equipment, machinery, and systems within the hotel premises. You will perform preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and respond promptly to guest requests and facility emergencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections of hotel facilities, equipment, and systems to identify and address maintenance issues proactively.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems according to established schedules and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions, including but not limited to HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing fixtures, kitchen appliances, and laundry equipment.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests for maintenance assistance and resolve issues in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, inventory levels, and service contracts.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of common areas, including corridors, lobbies, restrooms, and outdoor spaces.
  • Assist with the installation, renovation, and upgrade of hotel facilities, equipment, and systems as directed by management.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while performing maintenance tasks and operating equipment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance services and repairs when necessary.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification in maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or similar role in a hotel or hospitality setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and performing repairs.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
